(silver with green leatherette [ugh])

I acquired the beehive Cpe in April 1959 (ca. 21,000 miles) after it stopped behind a Ford Sedan and the Cadillac behind Porsche did not. As a graduate student working part time in an independent VW shop, I bought the '57 Cpe from a friend's body shop for $800 and for $400 he repaired it. (There was a promise that no plastic would be used in the repairs. I found out recently that "my friend" lied.)

Pan being readied for prime and under-seal after removing about 5 gallons of plastic from the battery box and rear floor pan areas (both panels were replaced in early 80's with pop rivets and plastic). Understand the perpetrator is currently confined to a mental institution.

June 2003 - Jon Dodge - Ridgecrest CA - delivers a plastic-free product top and bottom. I was there when he did the lead work.

Back in my barn, where my 'mistress' has resided off and on for the past 23 years (a true story), being readied for the trip to our new home in New Hampshire. The 644 BBAB trannie (acquired in '73) was restored about 8 years ago. With a little luck and lots of sweat, I look forward to driving her once again before the lights go out.
